A Virtual High Five Salute to Senator Graham
U.S. Senator Lindsay Graham has declared his support for Judge Sotomayor, President Obama's Nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court. Senator Graham was tough and engaging during the questioning of the Judge. Some noted how he was a bit over the top in his questioning. I disagree. I found the interaction quite engaging and the discussion over her vision of judging was quite on pointe.
Senator Graham has further reinforced my belief that Judge Sotomayor will be known as Justice Sotomayor. Some have said that Sotomayor's nomination was an attempt to draw a "line in the sand" for future nominations. I also disagree with that. I think that each nominee will sink or swim on his or her merits. This is what happened with Miguel Estrada, Robert Bork and Harriett Myers. But, the pundits will always continue to have their "fun" anyway. I commend Senator Graham for stepping up as he has. I was frankly surprised, but pleased nonetheless.
