Bibi Speaks.....

Bibi, the man slated to be Israel's next Prime Minister, spoke at a Security Conference. This is an excerpt of his comments:

"If I'm elected, the biggest, most important task of my government will be to fend off the Iranian threat in all aspects.....It will oblige us to work on all fronts, including harnessing the US administration to stop the threat....Palestinian society is deeply divided... They are not strong enough to accept minimal concessions for a peace deal and are not strong enough to fight terror..."

Now, it is unfortunate that he is on track to be Prime Minister. I am truly trying to understand what is the end game. Bibi and the Israeli right want to abide by their own rules. What the Israeli public just don't understand is that the United States had 8 years of the same us vs. them mentality. From what I have read, Bibi has the same mentality in domestic policy as well. I also am quite concerned that he seems not to accept responsbility for the fact that he was one of the very architects that helped destroy the peace process and harness the very divisions that have seen Gazans suffer as they have. What is Bibi's Solution then? Does he want to humiliate the 1.5 Million People into submission through starving them? The Iranian threat, as espoused by Israel, is interesting. I am trying to understand how that is possible. Gaza is under air, sea and land blockade. I'm trying to understand this.

What Bibi seems to forget is that what Israel has done is what happened in South Africa. I am sorry to view this in this context. I have no other way to view this. I did try to visit Bibi's website to see his views. I reviewed the likud plank as published in the Israeli Knesset. It continues to reject the two state solution. It basically relegates Palestinians to second class citizens. Queen Noor of Jordan said it best when she noted that all of us are children of Abraham. As such, it seems that we ought to all figure out a way to live together. I wonder if I am too much of a idealist in this regard.
