Biden's Love-Hate Relationship With McCain
August 23rd 2008 20:48
As soon as Obama announced Biden as his VP choice the McCain wheels began turning to put together an ad making it seem that Biden is more of a McCain supporter than an Obama one. it's an interesting strategy, telling people that Obama's own VP doesn't have faith in him to be President. The short, 30 second ad featuring a short clip of a question and answer session Biden was a part of during his own very early presidential run. Though the debate was not dated in the ad giving the subtle impression that Biden's comments are much more recent than they are. And, of course, if Biden says that he has come to know Obama better and feel more secure in his ability it will be played as flipflopping.
The assumption of Biden's support for McCain more so than Obama make's Biden speech today that much more interesting. Biden made his feelings very clear when he compared McCain to Bush and stated his negative feelings about McCain's leadership. Biden also hammered a nail into the "Obama is elitist" theme that has made too many rounds across the internet. Unlike McCain, who married his rich mistress, Obama came from working class roots and built his way from the ground up.
I've yet to find a video of the specific part of Biden's speech, but here's a little bit that I was able to find where he jokes about McCain's 7 dining room tables. I'll be sure to update as soon as I find it.
