Carol Bartz Arrives at Yahoo
Carol Bartz has been named to head Yahoo. I find that quite a choice. I knew of her when she was one of the key executives at Sun Microsystems. She then went on to Autodesk and made sure that it grew and evolved. Autodesk continues to be one of the key players in the CAD/CAM business. Now, she has been selected to do her magic at Yahoo.
I was reading on the current thinking on Bartz' choice. Some say that she is not the right person for the job. I disagree. Some say Autodesk moved sideways. But, the dynamism and change she introducted at Autodesk was quite remarkable. She dealt beautifully with the card deck at hand and worked to insure that Autodesk grew up. I think Yahoo has to grow up and potentially get married to Microsoft. I think Bartz can do it. I have seen what she did at Autodesk and Sun and know she's the right person for the job.
Her ascendency shows the continued acknowledgment that women in business are a force to be reckoned with. I wish her well.
