Comcast and GE have come to an agreement to form a new venture to be managed by Comcast. I first wrote about it in KP's sister site, Outsider Views. As I recently revisited this and reviewed GE's view, I listened with great interest to Jeff Immelt's view on this:
I admire Jeff Immelt. I was quite proud of him when he spoke truth at West Point a few weeks ago about the challenges America faces. I also do understand the realignment GE did in light of its' current business focus. I do worry about the continued consolidation in the Media Sector. "New Media" practitioners like myself will need to be ever more vigliant and push the limits in advocating fundemental change to reach out. I am not comfortable with one company controlling so much content and also control the delivery of the content. I hope I am not paranoid.
