Damibisa Moyo: A Potrait in Courage
I first heard of Dambisa Moyo in a recent article in the Financial Times. As William Wallis noted,, "....Ms. Moyo argues that official development assistance has fostered depedency and perpetuated poor governance. She proposes a blend of commercial debt, microfinance, fairer trade and investment in its place." (Source: http://www.ft.com, retrieved 5/31/2009). This statement is significant because of the continued plight in Africa.
What I found especially striking is how African Leaders are starting to take notice. Colonel Gadafi and President Kagame are listening to her. It seems to me that the whole world seems at least listen to her arguments to figure out how to get Africa out of this cycle of misery that it never seems to get out of. I'll be reading more of her views and assessing it over the ensuing weeks and months.
