Evan Bayh: A Bit of a Disappointment
As the battle over healthcare reform continues, I remain concerned about Evan Bayh, the junior U.S. Senator from Indiana. He is among a number of so-called centrist Democrats who has come out questioning the merits of healthcare reform and questioning the Public Option. When I saw that his wife had made over 2,000,000 Dollars serving on a number of Corporate Boards, it forced me to wonder. When I found out that her key appointment was with Wellpointe, the leading insurer, then I said to myself: why? It appears that he is making a U-Turn.
I visited Senator Bayh's website and saw how he has touted saving jobs and how he has pushed for the "common man". But, what I think the Senator should understand is that he and his family are among the lucky ones and the top 1% of the country becuase they do not have to worry about healthcare. If they sneeze, they would be taken care of. But, for the rest of us unfortunate souls, the reality is otherwise. I understand that we need to control spending and be responsible. I think that The Senator needs to see the Thomson Reuters report to understand how it is critical to change the way things are. I hope he will not stand in the way of doing the right thing.
