Following On w/the Obama Express (An Update)
America and the world is quite excited about the Obama Inauguration. There is so much hope as change will truly begin to occur. I visited change.gov for the last time to check on any further updates and briefly caught on the happenings as the Obamas worked their way towards Washington to be ready for the big Day.
Whatever one may think of Obama, he represents the future. America has always been able to renew itself after the tough times it has faced. I remember reading about the panic of 1877, the panic of 1907, the depression of the 30's, World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Time Magazine's Inaugural preview talked about it with seven Civil Rights pioneers. I thought Julian Bond's statement was profound when he noted, ".....If you look at the past eight years and look ahead, it literally is going to be night and day".
They will be arriving in Washington shortly. I think the cover of the current edition of the Economist put the daunting task before Mr. Obama in rather stark terms:
