Healthcare: Yaah Right!!!
Well, the victory in the US Senate happened. Harry Reid pulled off a near-impossible. Who knows what will happen when this goes on through the reconicliation process. I wrote about it in KP's sister site, Outsider Views. But, the question I have is at what cost?
When I looked at what Ben Nelson secured-- Full Medicaid reimbursement for the State of Nebraska and what Mary Landrieu secured for Louisiana-- dubbed the Louisiana Purchase, my reaction was simple: Good Grief!!!!!!
The ordinary folks, though, struggle on and dread the day that they fall ill. I just got done listening to an Al Jazeera Report on Medical Tourism. It is a shame that Americans have to go to Thailand to get Medical Treatment because it is cheaper. What is clear is that Americans should not get sick. John Kerry talked about during the 2004 Presidential Campaign. One of my students asked a simple question: How is someone who is mandated to get health insurance when someone has no money and is not able to take advantage of the so-called tax breaks that is touted as the end all ? I wonder........
