Hilda Solis Runs Into Trouble

I reported on the nomination of Hilda Solis to be Secretary of Labor. I read reports that her nomination was held up due to her husband's tax problems. My reaction to this report was "good grief". Although Senator Kennedy seems to continue to support her, I think that she should not be railroaded.

Her background, in my view, makes her perfectly suited to be able to insure that the workers of America have an effective to play. I believe that she will be confirmed so that the business of the American Worker can be pursued in the most forceful way possible.

I hope she goes down. I don't like card check at all, but I'm more concerned about her being an amnesty advocate. Amnesty yesterday, amnesty today, amnesty tomorrow. Our country can't continue to give amnesties. We gave amnesty 23 years ago to 3 million illegal immigrants. Now we have 12 million. Why should we do it again? That's nonsensical. If she REALLY cares about US workers, she would be against flooding the market with low-wage, low-skilled workers.

I also read over at RedState that she has other problems. Apparently, she may have violated campaign finance reform laws in the recent past.

She's got problems.

Hi there,

Thanks for "dropping by".....much appreciate it.....

If RedStar is right, then she may have to do the right thing like Tom Daschle did and withdraw. In the midst of all that is going on, we can't afford any distractions.

I think she'd have to be "asked" to leave. She strikes me as the type who really gets dug in. And with Obama having already lost two or three Hispanic cabinet choices (Richardson and Becerra are two I can think of right off hand), I suspect that he'll be pressured to keep her on board.
