Iran: The Plight of a Mother & A Cry For Justice

December 3rd 2009 04:25

In yesterday's Financial Times, I saw a story about Parvin Fahimi. She is a 53-year Mother who lost her son, Sohrab, during the June uprising in Iran. From what I read, she was marching with him when he was separated from his mother. Her mother searched for his son and then all of a sudden got his body back with a single shot to the head.

This interview I found was done about five days ago. Unfortunately, it is in Farsi. What she said was that she will continue the fight for justice for his boy. She said that she will not be silent. She said that she did not want her boy's blood to be wasted in vain. She said that the only way she was going to be silenced was if she was killed. She wanted to find out where he was killed and how he was killed. She wants answers. She has not been able to get them.

In the Financial Times report, she talked about letters she has written to the head of the Judiciary and the Parliament with no answers. Although I commend her for her fight and her courage, she is wasting her time. I wonder if any of the leadership in the country has any conscious at all? What should one say to a mother? What should one say to those who want to be free and want justice? What kind of person would do this? What I find laughable is how Ahmadinejad noted that the IAEA sanction against Iran was Illegal, yet he and his gang have blown away any semblance of constitutional authority and order in the country. Ahmadinjead has taken a page out of George W. Bush's playbook in basically circumventing parliament and will essentially do its' own thing without regard for the rule of law.

There is another key day coming up. College Student Day is coming up and there is a concerted effort to have protests planned. Sepahnews, the official news agency of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corp, is telling the world that University Students will rise up and challenge the great satan. They are also continuing to warn against the so-called velvet revolution and reaffirming their committment to preserve the Islamic System. The militarization of the country continues to be in full swing and where it ends is anyone's guess right now.
