Jacques Chirac: What a Sad State of Affairs
Jacques Chirac, the Former French President, is someone that I have always had a fascination with. He has been one of those leaders who lived the Gaullist tradition in laying out an independent streak in foreign policy. I became a fan after this incident in Jerusleuam:
I find it tragic and sad that he is now the subject of prosecution for his activities as Mayor of Paris. I do believe that this is an indication that no one is above the law. It should be a cause for celebration. If Mr. Chirac is proven innocent, then no one should question his service to the French State. But, the need to insure that the public trust is never violated is ever more crucial for the sake of all.
