KP Tech Newsflash (6/4/2010)
For long time readers, one has become to realize that I have begun to feature retrospectives of technology as I seek to assess the technological evolution of our world and how it interacts with our world in general. What was surprising to me was the decision by AT&T not to offer unlimited data plans to new iphone users. This is significant in light of the continued expansive nature of the data being produced which I wrote about earlier in my "Smarter Planet" Write-up.
I think that others will follow suit soon.
There is of course the rise of the Cloud. I think the annoucement by HP to cut 9,000 jobs and invest over a billion dollars in automated data centers underscores the fact that data centers will continue to be automated. Although I think that the possiblites for IT continue to be limitless, IT has to figure out how to operate in the "Cloud". The Cloud will continue to grow as the world awaits the release of the Chrome Operating System. Just like anything else, the traditional way of doing business will simply not do.
