KP Week-End (1/3/2010): As 2010 Begins....
2010 has started in earnest!! I am anxious, nervous and excited at the same time. It looks like the Economist's KAL also agrees. I reflected upon the year here and in KP's sister "Outsider" sites. I hope that I can be as focused and effective in my daily write-ups. But as I hope and pray for a good year, I continue to be worried and concerned.
I spent Saturday with the family. It was a fun day to hang out. While coming back, I noticed that a local Burger King had shut down. Well, it is not a "big deal" when businesses shut down, this one hit home. This was a Burger King that dedicated one day a month to help with fundraisers for my Son's School. The children of the owners were alumni of my Son's school. It was one of the pleasures of the year for me to take my son out to the restaurant when my son played and had a good time. It seemed as if a chapter was closed out. I hope that those owners are going to make it. They made a difference and they would be forever remembered.
What I worry about is who can step up to replace such gracious individuals as the community will be called upon to do more as the State continues to falter in its' responsiblities to educate. I wonder what will happen now?
