Manny Pacquiao: A Symbol of Hope
I admit that I did not know who Manny Pacquiao was before I heard of him in a report on the BBC. From what I was able to gather of him, I hear that he is considered a hero in the Phillipines. As I read more on him , I understood why.
Manny ran away from home when he was 12. He started boxing at 14. While boxing, he went to college, got a Master's degree and continued to ascend the world of Boxing. Some even toute him as a future President of the Phillipines. Given the bad luck the Phillipines has had with all the characters that have led it, he may well be the breath of fresh air the Phillipines needs. The beauty of it is that he is not corrupt. Manny is fighting in Las Vegas later on today. He has a guaranteed payout of $ 12 Million. I understood that Phillipines comes to a standstill when he fights. If only he could apply that magic to help lift the Phillipines out of its' never ending cycle of misery....
