Obama Gives Speech, McCain Covers Ears

Up until a certain age you often cannot expect young children to easily accept fault for things they have done. Most parents know how easily kids will blame someone else, or simply deny that whatever happened actually did happen. For young children often they fully believe that if they just swear it didn't happen then it really will become as if it never existed. It's not that they are being willfully wrong, it's just that they are not yet mature enough to step up. One of the things my oldest son does is focus on one little detail of what I am saying, ignoring everything else, in hopes that if one little thing is wrong then the entire thing must be wrong. A lecture on not jumping on the bed because it will break the bed blows past him with only that I said his sheets were red instead of blue being held. It's not that he don't understand that his jumping will break the bed, it's just that he's not yet mature enough to handle the criticism.

Obama tire gauge
So imagine my shock when I learned that McCain is actually one of my kids. No, really, I think he might be my long lost son. Why? Well even after Obama's speech in Michigan on the energy crisis McCain decided to keep his fingers in his ears, ignoring all the valid points and ideas that Obama has. Instead focusing on a small quote of a speech in Missouri. Never mind that this one suggestion is actually a good one, McCain and his staff have chosen to pick on Obama about tire gauges as being the whole of Obama's plan. Tire gages? John, were you even listening?

Sadly it wasn't just McCain with his fingers in his ears. The typical talking heads of the GOP were also ignoring Obama's real energy plan to instead focus on one small detail he mentioned during his speech. Really people, did you even bother listening to the speech? Did you bother taking the time to learn about his actual plan rather than just listen to the propaganda? Don't make me send you all to the corner.

Yes, yes, we all know it's fun to prod McCain for being incompetent and oblivious. McCain's been incompetent for a long while now - it's why he was never fully accepted by the GOP and why he failed to escape captivity as a POW.

But I'm not here to bash McCain, that's far too easy. Where's the sport, darling?

No, what I'm wondering today is when the whole world went and got castrated? Was I asleep?

It's as if somehow, I took a brief nap and the chips were all swapped.

They stole a nation of innovative, ambitious people who saw no boundaries before them and replaced them with cowards to hold the ranks.

How disgusting.

Just because McCain is senile and should probably be playing Bingo in a Nursing Home right now - does not mean that Obama is clearly the best candidate.

Obama is just as incompetent and unqualified as McCain. His overall plans for Iraq, Afghanistan, Fiscal Economics and Oil are irrationally unrealistic.

It's even becoming painfully obvious since he originally stated that he was against off-shore drilling but recently admitted that he's now willing to compromise on the topic - HOW IRONIC?!

It's almost.. one of those... OH YES! A flip-flop. Just like McCain.

Now we're getting into it - the Real Politik.

You see, my qualm is not with McCain or Obama, it's with the people of this country. We all know what's wrong. We all see the issues. We all "claim" to be tired of the bullshit, but what do we do? Nothing.

We cry about the "enemy" party and vote for our man, only to condemn him once he turns out to be the wolf in sheep's bloody clothing.

Bill Clinton used to be the advocate of the Black Community, they loved him. They cherished him. They sung his praises left and right. Now he's the enemy. Now the "Clinton Family" is the dark half-breed of democrat. Why? What did they do? Honestly?

Honestly - they did nothing. They merely tried to run against the perceived "Hope-Monger" of the new age and his hype-train crushed them like retarded baby seals.

How fickle are the Democrats? About as fickle as the Republicans. Both parties are failing this country.

We have a majority Democratic congress right now and they've failed to mend this country just as pitifully as the Republicans.

I see no evil in these people. Merely - the evil is in the bullshit party ranks and the lines they draw. The civil war that rages in the minds of our apathetic culture where we turn on ourselves if only for delusional hope.

But it doesn't matter right....

No, it doesn't....

McCain is the devil to the Obama Christ, or vice versa - take your pick.

As long as the fantasy continues, we can ignore a social suicide. Loud noises cover soft screams.

I have to disagree with almost everything you said. Obama doesn't win because McCain sucks, Obama wins because his ideas are good, his plans are sound, and his agenda is better. That McCain sucks is jsut an added bonus.

Actually, Senator McCain has admitted that proper tire inflation is an energy-savings move.

Oops!

This may be the real point:

As Obama said in a speech regarding the tyre gauge nonsense that McCain and his team reveled in like a bunch of school boys, "It's as if these guys take pride in their ignorance".

Oh looky looky, the Republicans are digging their graves even deeper.
Thanks for the videos, Jim.

I really couldn't believe my eyes as I saw this whole tire pressure thing unfolding. Sometimes I just cringe when I see McCain going down this path. I actually feel kinda bad for him, because he makes himself look so silly.

Obama's energy policy is not just about tire pressure (which does help conserve energy, by the way!) His policy encompasses several pages on his site, and is very detailed.

Summer, your analogy of a small child with tunnel vision is precisely what John McCain is behaving like. So why in the heck, with most rational people being able to see this for what it is, is Obama not doing better in the polls?

I have 2 theories.

1. Early polling is worthless. Especially considering much of the polling that takes place is based on phone calls that go only to land lines, which many people, especially young people don't have.

2. The populous is rather dim. These tactics being used by the Republicans appeal to the, shall we say, juvenile segment of the population that are stimulated by the schoolyard bully more than the valedictorian.

I will now sit back and wait to be referred to as an elitist for that last comment.

Great post and comments....I have to agree with Natalie's conclusions, especially number 2....too damn dimwitted to not vote against their own self-interests.
