Obssession with a Handshake
What's the Big Deal?
There has been a single-minded obsession with a handshake. When Hugo Chavez went out to give Barack Obama the "book", everyone seemed surprised. Then, when they met again, conservative luminaries such as John Ensign and Newt Gingrich were up in arms.
The two men met and exchanged pleasantries. Chavez is the head of Government for a Soveriegn Nation. He may be a showman, is hell bent on stiffling dissent and is on a binge to usurp power. But, it seems that whatever has been done up to now has not worked. Why not try something different? The United States tried to subvert governments for its' narrow political gains for the past 100 years. Obama is trying to forge a path ahead. Everyone needs to give it time to work.
