I'm not a biker but even I know about Sturgis and the sort of things that can go on there. If you're not familiar Sturgis is a huge biker rally that happens once a year where bikers from all over the country get together, show off their bikes, socialize, and do a few things that bikers have a bad reputation for doing. Such as the Buffalo Chip "beauty" contest. A contest McCain joked about encouraging his wife to enter.

Because flashing her tits and bouncing around on stage is what the First lady should have on her resume.

Gee McCain, can you be any more sexist? Oh, you were just joking! So it's supposed to be OK that you only joke about being a sexist pig rather than actually tossing your wife to the lions and showing how much of one you are. I guess that falls into the same lines as rape and spousal abuse being funny too.

I guess these are those wonderful "family values" the Republicans are so proud of. And such respect for women too!

That's pretty amazaing. I'm sure McCain was intending it as a joke, however, it's not really that funny. Nice post.

Interesting post, Summer Minor! Another thing that's occurred to me is that Sturgis has sort of become associated with the Republican party, even though a lot of the stuff that goes on there is anathema to the party's religious right allies: the alcohol, the tattoos, the leather bikinis. I can't help but feel that people like this are potential opponents of social conservatism who the Democrats and others have overlooked simply because they're "not like us."
