The Coming Republican Tide
There is a new Gallup Poll that's out that apparently underscores how bad things are looking for the Democrats. The tide continues to supposedly steer towards the Republicans. I wonder about it in light of the fact that the official campaign season is yet to begin.
The country is nervous. The Economy is stalling. The Republicans are pushing their version of how they are going to change things when they gain power. The problem is that they are not interested in Governing. They have proven this repeatedly.
The Republicans are noting that they are part of the mainstream. Their pronoucements, ideas and plans are anything but. I do find another development quite startling, though. The Office of Congressional Ethics has referred three members of Congress to be investigated by the House Ethics Committee. One of the more interesting characters is a Birther, John Campbell. He represents California's 48th District and is in a reasonably competitive race. Whether that would change things remains to be seen.
As I have continued to assess where things stand, I continue to be believe that the reports of the death of Democratic Party continues to overblown. I am of the view that the Democrats have a steep mountain to climb. But they have to be on the attack by underscoring the true nature of the Republican Attack Machine and the big money interests behind them. That's the key battle that has to be undertaken for any reasonable chance of retaining the Congress.
