The Continued Demise of Traditional Media
I have just seen a dispatch from Reuteurs noting that the Minneapolis Star Tribue has filed for banrkupcy protection. It is the 15th Largest newspaper in the Country. The Tribune is already in bankrupcy. McClathy is in trouble. Gannett has its' challenges. New York Times is about to mortgage its' headquarters. It is scary to see this.
As we are witness to this unprecedented change, it is even more important for those of us who are increasingly active writing the issues of the world to do what we can to be as reflective, even-handed and straightforward as we can be. We have to continue to inform, to encourage debate and to reflect. There is no other way.
