The Humanity of Ellie Wiesel
June 6th 2009 23:07
Whenever I have a chance to read about Ellie Wiesel, I continue to marvel at this man's capability to carry on despite having lived through hell. When he joined President Obama and Chancellor Merkel, I could not possibly imagine what he felt. When I saw Schindler's list, I was sick for two days afterwards. Schindler's List was a Hollywood Movie, yet it was a masterful story to remind us all of the evil that we should always strive to struggle against.
As I have had a chance to be witness to the humanity of Ellie Wiesel, I was shocked to see how his foundation was among the Maddoff victims. I am confident that he will go on. His work and his voice of reason and compassion is needed now even more. How we as a world seem to forget, though. Throughout our recent history, we have had to be witness to Darfur, Rwanda, Congo, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leon, Liberia and Palestine. I wonder if our world will truly learn.
