The Rise of the "New Right" In America
June 16th 2010 02:55
There has been a lot of talk and hype as the Republican Party works to transform itself. I view this depiction in the Economist as quite telling of the challenge The Republicans face right now:
There is also a documentary that will be aired on MSNBC in the United States that will detail this rather worrisome development. Although there is no question that the need for a vibrant opposition is crucial, this vibrancy seems to be taking a worrisome turn. The opposition must be constructive, not destructive. Right now, that's all the current opposition in the United States seems to want to do. The Party of "Hell No" now is turning into the Party of "Hell Yes". It is rather ironic.
America is worried. I have written about it throughout my "Write-Ups" here and in KP's sister sites. It is still quite brutal out there on Main Street. It is during such times that opportunists like Michelle Bachman, Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Sean Hannity and the rest of the gang at Fox along with the rightwing blogosphere have the ear and the attention of all. What I find fascinating is how the same folks who called Obama a Marxist, now rail him for incompetence and not doing enough. What I also am trying to find out from these guys is how far they will go to trust corporations. I cannot expect much from a movement that has produced someone who thinks that Flouride is a Communist Conspiracy?!?!?, who thinks that Social Security should be abolished (and then denied while talking to the crew over at Fox) and thinks that America has to leave the UN.
I am not surprised. I am worried. So should the world.
