The Turing Award Goes To.....
..Computer scientist Barbara Liskov. She is this year's winner of the Award, named after British codebreaker Alan Turing. Dr. Liskov has had a quite a career. She was the first woman in the U.S. to earn at Ph.D in computer science and has done innovative work developing object-oriented computer languages.
She has been a professor at MIT since 1972. In praising her, MIT's provost L. Rafael Reif noted that : "Every time you exchange an e-mail with a friend, check your bank statement online or run a Google search, you are riding on the momentum of her research.." Congratulations!!!!
