The GITMO Tragedy
Susan Crawford gave an interview to the Washington Post where she noted that she rejected prosecution for a Saudi Citizen because "......We tortured Qahtani...". The guy was subject to sleep deprivation, nudity, insults to his Mother and Sister for days at a time. As I read on about this, what Judge Crawford said underscores the fact that GITMO is the biggest shame on America. The law was simply trashed in the name of National Security. Mr. Bush repeatedly said that it was the policy of the United States was not to torture. The comments by Susan Crawford was chilling to say the least and has put Mr. Bush once again in a bad light and underscored the utter failure of his Presidency.
What Judge Crawford said has undescored the need for us to figure out how how to deal with the "bad guys" the right way. Judge Crawford destroyed any semblance of crediblity left in the arguments put forth by the Bush Gang over the past 8 years. A new dawn is upon us that would be based on the right principles of justice, equality and fair play. The whole world has set its' eye on America. America has to walk the talk now.
